Information on the on the Early Padgett Families

Phoebe Padgett (1760/65-1813/29) married James Shasteen (1755/60-1790/1850) 1782 in Amherst Co. VA. It is speculated but not yet proven that she was the daughter of Edmond Simon Padgett b 1738 and sister of Abner Padgett.

          Abner Padgett (1768 - pre 1807)
               1850 Amherst County Census, LEWIS PADGET, pauper, living in the Poor House, age 74 years, so this LEWIS PADGET
                    WAS BORN IN ABOUT 1776, and Lewis is first mentioned as a witness to a land transaction in 1816, and in 1819, LEWIS
                    AND ABNER PADGETT are Witnesses to a land transaction in Amherst County, VA.
               10/3/1791 BETSEY PAGETT, spinster, marries JOHN MOON with RICHARD FULCHER, surety. Consent was given by
                    ABNER PADGET, and consent was given by BETSEY, who spelled her name PADGET.
               Another researcher says that ABNER PADGETT had twin sons named REUBEN PADGETT AND BEVERLEY PADGETT.
