This picture is Nettie born 03 Jan 1874 and Charles Harrison Shasteen born 10 Oct 1875. Based on the apparent age of 11 and 9 respectively, this would date the picture circa 1884 or 1885, just before they were shipped out to Kansas. Per family write up by Richard Edward Burns for information on entire family - In his write up, he states "Nettie, age 12 and her brother, Harry, age 10, had their worldly possessions packed and were shipped by train out to Western Kansas.  By prearrangement the youngsters were situated with a family named Douglass.  Nothing is known of their youth, though it is certain life was not filled with fun and games."  This would have been about 1886 and Nettie and Harry were listed in the 1880 census with Harrison and Augusta, but not in the 1900 census.
